Right on time
Arthur Nolan spent forty-one years with the railroad, and his family will tell you he ran his household the way he ran his trains: warm, exact, and always arriving when he said he would. Sunday dinners at five meant five — but nobody minded, because nobody wanted to miss his stories.
A devoted jazz listener with a record collection four crates deep, he married Ruth in 1961. They raised a daughter and two sons, danced in the kitchen every anniversary, and greeted four grandchildren who called him "Papa Conductor."
Survived and preceded
Arthur was preceded in death by his brother Edward. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Ruth; his children Patricia, William and James; and seven grandchildren.
Services
A funeral ceremony was held in the Larkspur Memorial Chapel, with his favorite Miles Davis record playing as friends gathered. Burial followed in the garden lawn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a gift of music lessons to a young person.
