A life in full bloom
Eleanor Hart taught third grade for thirty-four years, and former students still stop her children in the grocery store to say: your mother taught me to read. She believed every child arrived already brilliant, and her classroom — with its reading corner, its tadpole tank, its Friday poetry — proved her right daily.
She married Thomas Hart in 1957, raised three children in the blue house on Magnolia Avenue, and after retiring, devoted herself to the community garden she founded behind the library. Her roses won ribbons; her tomatoes won hearts.
Survived and preceded
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Thomas and her sister June. She is survived by her children Margaret, Daniel and Susan; eight grandchildren; and her beloved terrier, Biscuit, who now keeps watch from Margaret's porch.
Services
A funeral ceremony was held in the Larkspur Memorial Chapel, followed by burial in the garden lawn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Larkspur Library children's room — or simply reading a poem aloud to someone small.
