A healer's heart
Grace Ellison nursed this community for thirty-eight years — first in the maternity ward, where she welcomed thousands of Larkspur babies, and later in hospice, where she sat with just as many at the other end of life. She used to say both rooms held the same thing: love, arriving and love, departing.
She sang alto in the church choir for five decades, baked lemon bars for every fundraiser, and married her fellow choir member, Daniel, in 1967. Their duets at family gatherings were famously off-key and fiercely beloved.
Survived and preceded
Grace is survived by her husband Daniel; her daughters Karen and Lisa; six grandchildren; and the countless families who still remember the nurse who held their hand.
Services
A celebration of life filled with song was held in the Larkspur Memorial Chapel, followed by burial in the garden lawn. The family invites donations to the nursing scholarship fund in her name.
